We ended up having just over 50 people come! Praise the Lord that the weather ended up great and the rain held off until about 8pm. And even then it just sprinkled a bit.
We had a watermelon theme and the birthday girl wore a darling watermelon dress :) Ashlyn's highchair got pulled out on the grass behind the back deck and we gave her her own strawberry "poke" cake. There were so many flashes going off that I think she was a bit overwhelmed. She just sort of dragged her finger through the whipped cream "frosting". But once people started drifting away and there was less attention on her, she really got into her cake!
After the cake, everyone else got burgers, hotdogs and other picnic-y type foods. It was so fun to see that many people hanging out in our yard, the kids playing and running around, and so many of our friends and family talking and having fun together. It really gave Kyle and me such a great vision for things to come.
Ashlyn was so blessed by everyone's generosity with gifts, but she wasn't interested in them until today! She wasn't interested in opening her gifts, but when we re-opened them today, she LOVED all her fun new stuff!
Grandma and Grandpa Warmington took Ashlyn to stay the night at their house after the party so that Mom and Dad could have some time off with their friends. We had a bonfire and hung out with some friends. Who doesn't love a good bonfire?! ;)
Our first big party at this house and, other than a few snags, it went great!

Kyle & Abby,
Congrats on Ashlyn's first steps! How cool. Hey--thanks for the invite to her party. Didn't you think we'd come?! :) Just kidding. Glad to hear your new remodeled house is getting some good use on the hosting front. Hey--you should post some pics of the remodel job for us out-of-staters to see. Talk to you soon...
Love, brad & lisa
