Baby Marcella is here :)
Our friends, Tyler and Christy had their baby girl, Marcella Grace, this afternoon. She was a great size--7lbs 7oz! Way to go, Christy! Tyler and Christy were able to spend a few minutes with Marcella before she was taken away for tests. Marcella has a few heart conditions that will require her to have open heart surgery within a week. I can't remember what it's all called, but she has a hole in the wall between her two ventricles, two of her arteries are transposed--they run parallel to each other instead of being crossed, and both arteries go to only one ventricle instead of each going to one ventricle. There's one other thing, too, but I can't remember what it is. Anyway, we've been praying for her/them like we haven't prayed before and this week is where the rubber meets the road. In a few days, they'll be airlifting Marcella to Ann Arbor where they'll be performing the surgery. The doctor who will be doing the surgery is one of the best there is in terms of this particular surgery. He does almost one/week, which is a TON considering it's a pretty rare condition. That fact alone is very comforting. Kyle and I will be making the trip to Ann Arbor as often as we can to hang with Tyler and Christy and Marcella. We'll post more as we know more... Until then, you can check Marcella's blogspot at www.marcellagrace.blogspot.com
